Lou Sanders the award winning, Taskmaster legend and all round hilarious comedian!
Before diving into the world of comedy, Lou Sanders had some interesting jobs in the administrative field, including being an executive PA and a complaints handler at Ofcom. Talk about a diverse background!
Along the way, she took comedy classes from the talented Logan Murray and even got paid to write a hilarious blog about The Apprentice. Who knew work could be so funny?
As a live performer, Lou lights up stages both in the UK and around the globe. In 2018, her show Shame Pig became a joint winner of the coveted Comedians' Choice Award for Best Show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. That's quite an achievement! And she didn't stop there—Sanders returned to the Festival in 2019 with her fantastic show, Say Hello to Your New Step Mummy.
Now, here's the scoop on Lou's television appearances. Brace yourself—she conquered the eighth series of Taskmaster in 2019, emerging as the undisputed winner. Talk about a taskmaster triumph! You might have also caught her cracking jokes on popular shows like QI, Would I Lie to You?, Travel Man, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Hypothetical, The Russell Howard Hour, Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Red Nose Day for Comic Relief, Russell Howard's Good News, Live at the Electric, and Question Team. Phew, that's quite a list!
But wait, there's more! Lou has shown her acting chops too. She appeared in sitcoms like Aisling Bea's This Way Up and Karl Pilkington's Sick of It. You might also hear her charming voice as a regular guest on BBC Radio 4's The Unbelievable Truth. And let's not forget her memorable appearance on BBC Two's Live at the Apollo. She sure knows how to leave a lasting impression!
Oh, did I mention she is also a talented writer? She wrote and starred in Elderflower, a delightful project alongside Sheila Reid, Tom Rosenthal, and Mike Wozniak. Additionally, she's contributed her witty writing skills to shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, Stand Up for the Week, and Miranda Hart. Sanders even got the chance to occasionally host the Elis and John Show on BBC Radio 5 Live—talk about versatility!
In February 2020, Lou launched her very own podcast called Cuddle Club, where she spreads warmth and laughter. And from February 2021, she's been gracing our screens on the Dave comedy panel show Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable. Most recently, in April 2022, Sanders started hosting the awesome Taskmaster: The People's Podcast.
In 2024, Lou appeared on Series 16 of Dancing on Ice with professional partner Brendyn Hatfield. They were eliminated in Week Six after losing in the skate-off to Ricky Norwood and Annette Dytrt, despite receiving their highest score of the season. Their performance to "Six" during the musicals week was praised, but it wasn't enough to keep them in the competition. Their journey on the show included facing controversies as fans were constantly outraged at how they were being consistently under-scored and ultimately, this culminated in their departure in Musicals week.
Arguably, the pinnacle of her career was in 2022, when she headlined Comedy in Your Eye's special "The Headliners" show to mark our one year anniversary!
It's safe to say that Lou Sanders is a multi-talented comedy superstar, making us laugh, think, and feel all the good vibes along the way. Keep an eye out for her—she's sure to bring a smile to your face!
